David first studied drum kit with Francis Serau the founder of Drumtech, the UK's first Drumming Academy, then Dave Hassell of The Royal Northern College of Music who introduced him to Afro-Cuban percussion.

That was the start of a journey to learn world percussion, and in 2009 he attended a study programme in Havana, Cuba with the late, great, Chuck Silverman, creator of The Latin - Funk connection.

On his return, he joined The London School of Samba, studied West African djembe with teachers Mohamed Dordoh and Odarty Josep, and Indian tabla with Usted Tarsem Singh.

In 2010, he introduced music to the therapy programme at The Priory hospital. Over the next seven years he developed and facilitated groups across several patient groups, at both Roehampton and North London sites.

He became the lead outreach facilitator for the London School of Samba in 2015, which meant running workshops at schools, colleges, universities and businesses across London and The Home Counties.

In 2022 at Edinburgh University, he gave his first TEDx talk where he played the collection of world percussion instruments known as The Gathering of Drums.
